Walpole & Chatham-Kent teaming up for challenge

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent, Delaware Nation at Moraviantown and Walpole Island First Nation are partnering up to face the Smart Cities Challenge from the Federal Government.

What is the Smart Cities Challenge?

The Smart Cities Challenge is a competition open to all municipalities, local or regional governments, and Indigenous communities (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) across Canada.

It has financial prizes of: $50,000,000, $10,000,000 and $5,000,000.

This is a competition requiring municipalities and governments to form partnerships and determine in consultation with their communities outcomes to improve their quality of life through the use of data and connected technology.

What would Chatham-Kent look like if all people could have access to easy to use and affordable
transportation services?

What would Chatham-Kent look like if we could share local food resources, have access to community gardens, and enable residents to engage in charitable food programs with dignity?

What would Chatham-Kent look like if people could connect to general health care providers, within their local communities, via technology?

What would Chatham-Kent look like if seniors could remain in their own homes (aging in place) without becoming isolated?

Do you have a need that doesn’t seem to be fulfilled by current supports in our community?

Do you have a Smart City idea or question?
