Dresden woman charged for shoplifting

A Dresden woman faces charged after an alleged shoplifting incident in Chatham.

Police officials say yesterday afternoon, a woman attended Walmart on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

She was observed concealing items in a red hand bag that she carried in with her while pushing a cart, police officials allege.

The woman proceeded to the self-checkout and paid for two items in the cart.

The woman exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items in her hand bag, police say.

The Loss Prevention Officer stopped the woman and called police.

A 36-year-old Dresden woman was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

She was released pending a future court date of April 18, 2018.
