Speeding charges laid after ‘aggressive driving’ complaint

OPP officials say on March 18, 2018, around 9:45 a.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an aggressive driving complaint on Highway 401 near Victoria Road.

The complainant advised an eastbound motor vehicle was weaving in and out of traffic, following other vehicles too closely and making hand gestures as they passed the other vehicles.

An officer set up to conduct RADAR enforcement on Highway 401 near Victoria Road when they observed an eastbound motor vehicle exceeding the posted speed limit of 100 km/hr.

The RADAR registered a speed in excess of 130 km/hr.

As a result, the male driver, a 38-year-old from Angus, Ontario has been charged with speeding, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

The driver was warned of their driving behaviour.

Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is actively monitoring the “Big 4” driving behaviours; impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving, and seatbelt usage.
