‘Molotov cocktail’ torches vehicle in Wallaceburg

An arson investigation has been launched in Wallaceburg after a Molotov cocktail was tossed into a parked vehicle on Tuesday.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say at approximately 9 p.m. officers responded to a complaint on King Street in Wallaceburg.

Police allege the owners security camera recorded an unknown male smashing the window of their vehicle and tossing a Molotov cocktail inside.

The vehicle was destroyed, with approximately $8,000 in damage caused, police say. (Update – Police said on Thursday that there was actually $1,500 in damage caused, but the vehicle was completely destroyed by fire.)

The investigation is currently being conducted by Const. Wayne Plaquet.
