$150,000 damage caused after townhouse blaze

The Ontario Fire Marshall has been contacted and the Chatham-Kent Police Service are holding the scene after a fire at a townhouse located at 393 Baldoon Road.

“911 dispatch received multiple calls for a report of a fire at Unit 4,” Chatham-Kent Fire & Emergency Services officials said in a press release.

“On arrival crews found the attached garage heavily involved in fire. All occupants self-evacuated from the house prior to the arrival of fire and there was no report of injuries.”

The fire was quickly brought under control by the first in crew.

“The damage from the fire was mostly contained to the garage area of the home,” fire officials stated.

“Neighbouring units were also impacted by smoke and water.”

Damage is pegged at $150,000.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
