The Wallaceburg Skating Club is holding their annual spring carnival this weekend at Wallaceburg Memorial Arena. The event will start at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 25. Cost of admission is $5 for adults (12 & up), $3 for children (4-11) and three and under are free. Flowers will be sold at show as well as carnival programs, which includes coloured photos of the skaters. The show will feature Canskaters, junior and senior skaters, plus both Synchro teams.

The Buffalo Sabres have assigned Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith to the Rochester Americans of the AHL. Griffith had been recalled by the Sabres on February 27. In his return to the NHL, Griffith skated in three games with the Sabres. He recorded zero points and no shots on net in limited action.

Dresden’s T.J. Brodie, a defenceman with the Calgary Flames, is still out of the lineup. Brodie missed Wednesday’s game in Calgary against the Anaheim Ducks. Reports say Brodie suffered an upper-body injury on Sunday after taking a hit from Ryan Reaves of the Vegas Golden Knights. So far in 73 games this season Brodie has 4 goals and 28 assists.

And finally…

Wallaceburg District Secondary School will be celebrating their 25th annual Tinman Triathlon this spring. The event will be held on May 17 with an entry deadline of May 1. In honour of the 25th anniversary, every participant will get a t-shirt. The fees have changed slightly to $10 per person and $30 for a team. Elementary participants are also being asked to pay an entry fee this year of $5 per person.
