Agriculture in the Classroom Gala Fundraising Dinner

Lambton-Kent Agriculture in the Classroom committee is very pleased to announce its 21st annual Gala Fundraising Dinner, ‘A Taste of Lambton-Kent’, to be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 in Willson Hall at the University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus.

The evening opens with a social beginning at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m.

This event showcases the finest agricultural products of the region through an elegantly presented six-course meal.

The funds raised at this event help to foster programs designed to increase awareness and appreciation of agriculture to youth within the local educational system. It is the primary fundraiser for the Lambton Kent Agriculture in the Classroom (LKAITC) committee.

Current committee projects include Harvest Days, an ag program for grade 3 students; Spring Days, an ag program for grade 4 students; and an Adopt A Farmer program using Skype or Face Time as the platform back to a classroom from a farm near you.

LKAITC also refurbishes agricultural science activity kits with the assistance of the Lambton-Kent District School Board Science Education Partnership. These help teachers to teach students about agriculture through the use of these science kits.

“Agriculture in the Classroom educates students about rural life that will help students become better policymakers and make better decision makers on agriculture in the future,” says committee Chair, Judy Krall.
