Frederick (Fred) Maxim of Wallaceburg

Frederick (Fred) Maxim, a resident of Wallaceburg, passed away peacefully at CKHA, Sydenham Campus on Monday, April 2, 2018 at the age of 87.

Fred is the son of the late Ion & Flora (Petrar) Maxim. Beloved husband of Mary (Armstrong). Loving father of Fred Jr. (Carrie) and William (Tracey). Dearest grandfather of Bradley and Megan. Brother of Steve (late Nancy) and Charles (Jeannette) and the late George (Ann), Harry (Mary), Nick (Anne), Pete (Audrey), Danny, John (Mary) and Mary (Ray). Fred is also survived by his sister-in-law Mary (late Danny) and his many nieces and nephews.

Fred taught secondary school for over 35 years, beginning at Petrolia District High School where he met his wife Mary and retiring from Wallaceburg District Secondary School in 1988. He is a Past President of the Petrolia Lions, a member of the Wallaceburg Hornets Oldtimers Hockey Team and the Chatham Huff n Puffers Hockey Club, an avid golfer and golf ball collector, and a member of the Countryview Darts League and Knox Presbyterian Church.

The family is grateful for the compassionate care that Fred received throughout his illness, most notably from the caring professionals at the Sydenham Campus and on 4th floor Medicine at CKHA in Chatham.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Thursday. The funeral will be celebrated at the funeral home on Friday, April 6 at 1:30 PM. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery, Sarnia on Saturday April 7 at 11 AM.
