Identity fraud & obstruct police charges in Wallaceburg

Identity fraud and obstruct police charges were laid in Wallaceburg this week.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege that on Tuesday night, officers attended a business on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg in regards to a man acting suspicious.

Police located the man who verbally identified himself.

He was advised of the complaint and left the store.

Approximately an hour later, police learned that the man had falsely identified himself as he was currently wanted on an outstanding warrant, police allege.

The 25-year-old man of no fixed address was located a short distance away from where the officer last saw him and he was arrested.

He has been charged with identity fraud and obstruct police.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
