Freezing rain warning, rainfall warning continues

A freezing rain warning and a rainfall warning remains in effect across Chatham-Kent.

Forecasters say freezing rain has developed as expected.

A few hours of freezing rain are likely before it changes to rain a little later this morning.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.

Rainfall warning

Environment Canada officials say following some morning freezing rain, a round of significant rainfall is expected this afternoon into this evening.

The rain may fall heavily at times with amounts likely in the 20 to 30 mm range.

Some additional rainfall is likely overnight into Monday, albeit lighter.

Total rainfall amounts for the weekend may be in the 30 to 40 mm range with localized amounts of 50 to 60 mm possible.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Keep children and pets away from creeks and river banks.
