Walpole Island election taking place June 9

The 2018 Walpole Island First Nation Band Election is taking place on June 9, but some important dates are being scheduled before voting day.

Nomination Day is being held on April 21 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Walpole Island First Nation Governance Building and Band Office.

Campaign Night is being held at the Walpole Island Sports Complex on May 30 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Voting will take place on election day from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Dan Miskokomon was re-elected as the Chief of Walpole Island First Nation after their most recent election in June of 2016.

Miskokomon cruised to victory gathering 347 votes. Second place finisher Charles Sampson picked up 214 votes, while Ron Soney had 161 votes.
