Newcomer Marshall Powless led the Wallaceburg Red Devils to a victory in their home opener on Tuesday night.

Powless scored 3 goals and added 1 assist in an 11-7 Wallaceburg win over the London Blue Devils.

“It felt pretty good,” Powless told the Sydenham Current following the game.

“Just saw that the middle was open after pick and rolls. We just have to move the ball around a bit more.”

Powless, who was acquired recently in a trade with Six Nations, said he’s glad to be in Wallaceburg.

“It feels like a family here,” Powless said.

And it truly is a family affair for Powless in Wallaceburg.

His older brother Sidney is beside him on offence for the Red Devils. He scored 1 goals and added 2 assists for Wallaceburg in Tuesday’s opener.

Both Marshall and Sidney exited the game a bit early as well, after they both picked up fighting majors in a heated final minute of the third period.

Johnny Powless, the oldest Powless brother, made his debut behind the bench for the Red Devils as well. Johnny is also a forward with the New England Black Wolves of the National Lacrosse League.

Newly acquired goaltender Brayden Bell stopped 35 shots in his Wallaceburg debut, picking up the victory.

Tyler Brown and Cory Lucier each picked up 1 goal and 3 assists, while Tanner Cole and Carter Hastings each had 1 goal and 2 assists for Wallaceburg.

Vern Hill added 2 goals, while his younger brother Tyden Hill scored 1 goal in his Red Devils debut.

A total of 376 people packed into Wallaceburg Memorial Arena for the Red Devils home opener.

Wallaceburg will be back in action at home on Sunday when they face their heated rival, the Windsor Clippers.

The game gets underway at 4 p.m.
