A blown tire had led to a crossover crash on the 401.
Chatham-Kent OPP officials say on April 24, 2018, around 1:30 p.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 401 near Charing Cross Road.
OPP officials allege that investigation revealed, an eastbound tractor trailer had a front tire blow out causing it to collide with a passing motor vehicle.
As a result of the collision, both vehicles crossed through the centre median and came to rest blocking both westbound lanes of the highway.
No injuries were reported.
A Chatham-Kent OPP member observed the collision and was able to stop westbound traffic from being involved in a head on collision.
Highway 401 westbound was closed for approximately one hour to allow for clean-up of the scene and removal of the vehicle.
