Drug bust in Chatham leads to charges

A pair from Chatham face drug trafficking charges after a bust on Wednesday.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say yesterday, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Section, with the assistance of the Critical Incident Response Team, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence on Park Street in Chatham.

Approximately $1,500 worth of cocaine, methamphetamine, hydromorphone and morphine was seized for analysis, police allege.

A quantity of cash was also seized.

Police allege officers also recovered a wallet, previously reported stolen from a local grocery store and a pair of stolen licence plates.

A 38-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with failing to comply with her release conditions by being in possession of non-prescription drugs, two counts of being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and four counts of drug possession for the purposes of trafficking.

She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
