Wallaceburg’s Carmen McGregor is hoping to keep her seat around the Chatham-Kent council table.

The incumbent Councillor for Ward 5 – Wallaceburg filed her papers on Wednesday and will be seeking re-election.

“Well I did it,” McGregor posted on social media.

“I have filed my papers to run for Council for the next term. I look forward to the possibility of representing Wallaceburg once again. There is still so much to do.”

McGregor gathered 1,578 votes (29.13%) in the 2014 election, the second most in Wallaceburg.

She was behind only Jeff Wesley, who gathered 2,383 votes (43.99%), and just ahead of Sheldon Parsons, who finished third with 1,290 votes (23.81%).

McGregor is a former public school board trustee and the former president of the Wallaceburg and District Chamber of Commerce.

She is married to Tom, who is a former Wallaceburg Councillor and current school board trustee. They have four children and five grandchildren.

McGregor and Nick Cadotte are the first two people to file their nomination papers to represent Wallaceburg.

Election day is October 22, 2018.
