Respect Revolution in Dresden

The Respect Revolution group stopped in Dresden last month for a performance at Dresden Foodland.

The group features individuals who perform and raise awareness about bullying.

Organizers with the group say they are made up of a group of students who live and embody the same dream of dedicating themselves to living a positive life by being responsible, making educated choices, having a positive attitude and motivating everyone.

Statement on the national housing strategy bilateral agreement

The following statement was issued on Monday by Peter Milczyn, Minister of Housing and Minister Responsible for the Poverty Reduction Strategy, following the signing of the National Housing Strategy bilateral agreement for Ontario:

“When people have a roof over their heads, they have the foundation to achieve great things. Secure housing enriches every aspect of our lives: family, work, school and so much more. Today we have reached an agreement with the federal government on a common path and shared roles and responsibilities to deliver sustained and expanded housing affordability in Ontario.

I want to thank our federal partners for working with Ontario to create a National Housing Strategy that serves the people of Ontario, reinvests in social and affordable housing, sustains modern flexible housing supports, and will invest in the creation of new affordable housing.

This agreement will build upon our common vision where everyone has a safe and affordable place to call home, as well as the commitments made in Ontario’s updated Long-Term Affordable Housing Strategy, preserving baseline funding for existing social housing. It is important to us to ensure that any agreement supports stability and predictability for the hundreds of thousands of families who live in social housing. The steps we have taken today will maintain more than 131,000 social housing spaces in the province.

We believe that everyone deserves a good home that they can afford, and the National Housing Strategy complements what Ontario has been doing for years to provide increased access to affordable housing. Ontario has been a leader in housing and homelessness prevention initiatives, including the Fair Housing Plan, Home for Good and the Community Homelessness Prevention Initiative.

Today’s partnership with the federal government will help us provide housing affordability for hundreds of thousands of Ontario families.”
