The Chatham-Kent Police Service are still investigating after a shooting at the Dresden Raceway on Saturday night.

Police officials said in a media release that the victim, a 58-year-old man, had successful surgery and is expected to return home in the near future.

“Police have no reason to believe that there exist any immediate safety concerns to the public and don’t believe that this shooting was accidental in nature,” police officials said in a press release.

“Police would like the thank the public that were very understanding Saturday night when they had to be evacuated from the Casino.”

As previously reported, police allege that on Saturday May 5 shortly before 11 p.m., police and EMS responded to the Dresden Raceway following reports of a possible shooting.

A man was located with a non-life threatening gunshot wound, police say.

The victim was initially transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, but was later transferred to the London Health Sciences Center.

The area was evacuated and secured by police.

Police remain on scene and the investigation is continuing.
