Chatham Maroons name captains, local signings

The Chatham Maroons held their 2018-19 Spring Camp at the Thames Campus Arena this past weekend.

Head Coach Kyle Makaric and Assistant General Manager Kevin Fisher wasted no time making commitments to Lucas Fancy, Evan Wells and Cameron Welch for the coming season.

All players players are from Chatham.

Fancy played last season with the Blenheim Blades, he was the Top Scoring 16-year-old and was runner-up for Rookie of the Year in the Stobbs Division.

Wells played for the Windsor Spitfires Major Midget ‘AAA’ Team last season, finishing 7th in Alliance Hockey scoring with 24 goals and 44 points in 33 games.

Welch also played for the Windsor Spitfires Major Midget ‘AAA’ last season scoring 32 points.

The Maroons also named Dane Johnstone as captain for the 2018/2019 season.

Johnstone scored 26 goals and 44 assists for a total of 70 points in 50 regular season games last season for the Maroons.

In 13 playoff games, he scored 3 goals and 10 assists for 13 points.

Veterans Dakota Bohn and Jake O’Donnell were also named assistant captain for the upcoming season.
