Charges laid after drug bust in Moraviantown

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Elgin/Middlesex Community Street Crime Unit (EMCSCU) along with the assistance of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) have arrested and charged one person after executing a search warrant at two residences on Delaware Nation – Moravian of the Thames.

OPP officials allege that on April 27, 2018 members of the OPP and Moraviantown First Nation Police attended the two addresses and executed a search warrant.

During the course of the search warrant, police arrested a male and took him into custody without incident.

As a result, investigators recovered thousands of dollars in property, firearms and approximately 14 pounds of illicit drugs, police say.

Upon further investigation, a 46-year-old Moraviantown First Nation man has been charged with the following criminal charges:

– Possession of Property obtained by Crime under $5,000.00 x 3

– Possession of Property obtained by Crime over $5,000.00 x 6

– Breach of Firearms Regulation- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon x 2

– Possession of a Firearm contrary to Prohibition Order x 7

– Possession of a Weapon x 2

– Possession of Schedule I Substance – other drugs x 3

– Possession of Schedule I Substance – cocaine

– Possession of a Schedule II Substance- Resin – Over 1 gram

– Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Cannabis Marihuana- under 3 kilograms

– Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
