Chatham-Kent Police responded to 21 hang up/accidental 911 calls in a 24-hour period this weekend.

Police officials say the Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind everyone that if you accidentally dial 911, to please stay on the line.

“Should you hang up the call taker will assume it is an emergency and dispatch police,” police officials say.

“911 Hang-up calls consume considerable resources, therefore police are asking all cell phone users to “lock it before your pocket.”

If non-emergency services are required please call at 519-436-6600 ext 222 for Headquarters front desk staff or 519-352-1234
