Increased limits for the Home Ownership Programme

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent Housing Services is again participating in the Ministry of Housing’s “Investment in Affordable Housing- Extension” (IAH-E) Home Ownership programme.

Municipal officials say they are pleased to announce increased income, loan and house price limits for 2018.

Through this program, qualified low to moderate-income households are eligible for up to seven percent (7%) in down-payment assistance, up to a maximum of $8,300.00 for purchasing a home.

The program is being funded by the federal and provincial government, with the municipality being the program delivery agent.

To qualify for the program, applicant households must be renting in Chatham-Kent, be at least 18-years-old, with a combined gross household income below $71,300.00.

The applicant household must be eligible for a mortgage from a primary lender.

The purchase price of the home must not exceed $167,000.

Applications for IAH-E Home Ownership loans are available on the Housing Services page of the Municipality of Chatham-Kent’s website, at the Community Human Services building located at 435 Grand Ave West in Chatham or at any municipal service centre.
