A ‘Dragon’s Den’ style project had students making business pitches at the Wallaceburg & District Museum on Wednesday.

Don Hunter told the Sydenham Current in August last year he was watching the popular television show, where aspiring entrepreneurs pitch business ideas to a panel of accomplished professionals or ‘Dragons’, when he got the idea for the local ‘Glass Panel Project.’

Fast forward to Wednesday, May 16 and nine students participated, including: Keegan Whiteye, Jade Miskokomon-Hopkins, Brooke Fisher, Hunter Fisher, Tyler Dashner, Keahna Riley, Damien Kiyoshk, Emily Riley, and Teya Smith.

The top three pitches were:

1st Place: Brooke Fisher and Hunter Fisher – $700

2nd Place: Damien Kiyoshk – $500

3rd Place: Tyler Dashner and Keahna Riley – $300

“Thank you to all the students who pitched their business to the judges as well as everyone who came and supported the students,” organizers posted on their blog.

MPP Monte McNaughton, Wallaceburg Coun. Jeff Wesley, Lori Dutot, Tyler White and Steve Brent were all judges in the competition.
