Turning intentions to action

From The Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin

When it comes to living your life, don’t leave the blueprints on the table – start to build!

Henry Ford once said, “You can’t build a reputation on what you’re going to do.”

Are you one of those people with the grandest of intentions but no fruit seems to come of it?

Back in the summer of 1993 my wife and I were preparing to make a move from Petrolia to Wallaceburg.

We were cleaning out closets and dresser drawers a few weeks before the moving truck was scheduled to arrive and it was then that we came across a heart-sinking sight.

Tucked away at the back of one of our dresser drawers was a stash of unmailed thank-you cards we had filled out after our honeymoon in the fall of 1990.

We had fully intended to get to the post office and get stamps on them and mail them off but had gotten busy with moving into our newly-rented two bedroom house and had stored them away.

We completely forgot about them until that fateful day when we were moving to a new community – a full two and a half years later!

Oh, we had the best of intentions to get these sent off but our actions never followed our great plan.

Do you have plans to help someone, or pay a visit to an elderly family member, or take care of a debt?

What is keeping you from decisive action?

James 4:17 says, “Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins.”

Quit procrastinating!

Don’t let another day go by without getting to that task that you have left unfinished – do it NOW!
