Tree planting in Wallaceburg and Dresden

A local tree company is doing their part to replace the trees they take out in Chatham-Kent.

The crew at CK Tree Care are set to plant 25 Carolinian native trees in Wallaceburg and Dresden parks.

“There is a lack of replanting from what we take down,” Greg Pilecki, owner of the business, told the Sydenham Current.

“I have taken an initiative to do something about it and replace what have needed to come down.”

Pilecki said he admires the beauty of the trees within Chatham-Kent.

“Nobody wants to see a big tree come down that has been there since their childhood or their grandfather’s childhood,” he said.

“If we take all these trees out and nobody takes the initiative to replant them, then what do we have left for the next generation.”

Pilecki said the CK Tree Care crew will be planting in Steinhoff Park, McDonald Park, Crother’s Park and Glen Mickle Park in Wallaceburg this week. He said he’s hoping to be planting in Dresden at Tony Stranak Park and the Dresden Arboretum as well, once he gets the go ahead.

“I thought this was a great opportunity being a local tree service, since we took down sick trees… trees that were posing a hazard or a threat to people who enjoy the parks,” he said.

“If we’re taking out these trees that need to come down and we’re not replanting them, it leaves the park bare and there is nothing for the next generation.”
