Events: Farmers’ Market, Dragon Boats, Fishing Derby

The first installment of the Wallaceburg BIA Farmer’s Market is taking place on Saturday at the old Liquidation World parking lot from 8 a.m. to Noon.

The 17th annual Sydenham Challenge Dragon Boat Festival is being also being held on Saturday 2 at the Legion in Wallaceburg. Races will be taking place all day in the Sydenham River.

The Bob Everitt Memorial Kid’s Fishing Derby is being held at the Dresden Legion on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Therw will be tons of food, prizes and fun for kid’s up to the age of 14.

Run, jump and climb at the CK Youth Festival, on Saturday, as Tecumseh Park comes alive with inflatable playgrounds, games and activities, hosted by the Optimist Club of Chatham.

An outdoor 3D target archery fundraiser for cancer patients is being held on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 4688 Kent Line in Dresden. Funds go directly to helping patients and their families with a wide variety of financial burdens during treatment. For new shooters, bows, arrows, and coaching are available on site. Come out and join the Walk for Arthritis on Sundayat the Sombra Ball Park. 9 a.m. is registration and the walk will start at 10 a.m. There will be a light lunch and refreshment served after. On June 11, Chatham-Kent administration will hold a public forum free to the public on the coming legalization of marijuana. The session will be hosted on YourTV and residents are welcome to attend the event, which will be held in the Council Chambers at the Civic Centre in Chatham at 6 p.m.

And finally… the Wallaceburg & District Council For The Arts are bringing back the Outdoor Summer Concert Series. Live and local music will once again be enjoyed in Library Park on Tuesday nights throughout the summer months. The outdoor series will once again be FREE admission and open to the public, planned for Tuesday nights through the summer months from June 12 to August 14. This year’s line-up will feature local talent including The Moondog Howlers, Neil Malcomb Band, The Sterling Blues Band, Dan Knight, Jay Allan, Jacklyn Wills, The Down River Band, The Uku Kings and more.
