Cause of recent fires ruled ‘undetermined’

On the evening of Tuesday May 29, 2018 firefighters from Harwich & Blenheim responded to a fire on Maynard Line around 10:30pm, then just before midnight crews from Bothwell attended another house fire on Elm St.

Chatham-Kent Fire & Emergency Services routinely determines cause and origin of fires.

“In regards to the two incidents on Tuesday night, our initial indications on cause were incorrect,” fire officials said in a media release.

“Upon further investigation, the cause of both fires is undetermined. We cannot confirm that electrical deficiencies or air conditioner units are at fault.”

Fire officials say the blaze on Maynard Line caused approximately $20,000 damage, while the $120,000 damage was caused at the Bothwell fire.
