Car strikes house, impaired driving charges laid

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege that shortly after 1 a.m. this morning, emergency crews responded to a collision on Klondyke Road.

Police say a man lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and struck a house.

No one was injured inside the house.

The driver sustained minor injuries.

Through investigation, police believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested.

The man was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

The 27-year-old Romney Township man has been charged with driving with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He will be released when sober pending a future court date of June 22, 2018.

Total damage was estimated at $250,000.
