Hugh Pearson of Wallaceburg

Hugh Richard Pearson, a resident of Wallaceburg, passed away peacefully at Fairfield Park on Sunday, June 17 at the age of 92.

Born in Duthil, Ontario, Hugh is the son of the late Richard (Dick) & Sadie (Sarah McRae) Pearson. Predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret Audrey (Punnewaert) in 2012. Loving father of Pat Leask & her husband Bill of Munster, Ontario. Dear grandfather of Greg Leask of Port Elgin and Sarah of Montreal.

Hugh served in the Royal Canadian Navy in World War II, defending Shelburne and Halifax Nova Scotia from the German U-boats. Following the war Hugh worked in the shipping department of Dominion Glass until his retirement. He and Margaret then became snowbirds, wintering in Tarpon Springs Florida. Hugh enjoyed celebrating his Scottish heritage, hockey, baseball, and above all, winning at cards.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 7-9 PM on Wednesday July 4. The funeral will be celebrated at the funeral home on Thursday, July 5 at 1:30 PM with visiting in the hour prior. The burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery on Friday, July 6 at 11 AM. If desired, remembrances to Knox Presbyterian Church or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 18 may be left at the funeral home 519.627.3231.
