Paint Court resident Steven Scott has filed his nomination papers and is running for the position of Councillor in Ward 4 – North Kent.

Scott, 46, a Director of Technology, TRIM-P.O.S. Software Corp., says he wants to help shape the future of the community.

“I am running for council so I can have an active role in shaping the future of the city for my children and grandchildren,” Scott said in a media release.

“Now that my children are older, I have the opportunity and free time to give back to the community that I love.”

Scott says there has been a lot of negativity in politics lately, especially municipal politics.

“I hope to change that negativity through the use of honest and open dialog, Scott says.

“With the first change in provincial government in more than 14 years, I believe that we have a unique opportunity to not only lobby the Provincial Government for increased funding for infrastructure, but also have them complete a proper study into the effects the wind turbines are having on our community water wells.”

Scott says his job as Director of Technology requires him to be an excellent problem solver.

“By focusing my abilities to issues facing Chatham-Kent, I hope to find solutions that benefit everyone,” he says.

Scott joins Joey Cyples, Dylan Robert McLay and Patricia Sylvain as candidates in North Kent.

Current Coun. Leon Leclair has stated he will not be seeking re-election.

The other incumbent Coun. Joe Faas has yet to state his intentions.

Election day is October 22, 2018.
