Wallaceburg Lakers acquire Ben Nicholls

The Wallaceburg Lakers made their first move to fill one of blueline holes left by the trade of Noah Tetrault and graduating player Matt Brevetti, by acquiring veteran defenceman, Ben Nicholls from the Wheatley Sharks.

Nicholls, who is from Chatham played the 2017-18 Provincial Junior Hockey League season with the Sharks and previous season with the Sharks and Dresden Kings.

In the 2015-16 season, he split between the Chatham Maroons and Kings.

“I’m excited to play the remainder of my junior hockey here in Wallaceburg,” Nicholls said on social media.

“I’m ready to play hard for my team and play to win.”

Nicholls is a stay at home defender who had 1 goal and 6 assists to go with 24 penalty minutes.

“We are extremely excited to have Ben… his leadership skills will make us better on and off the ice,” stated Ritch Kanally, the Lakers general manager.

The Lakers finished with a 3-37-0-0 record on the year, last in the West Stobbs Division.
