Fraudsters continue to bombard Chatham-Kent

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say fraudsters continue to bombard Chatham-Kent with plots to steal your money.

Police say some signs that you are being targeted are;

– Requests for gift cards or prepaid credit cards to pay a ‘debt’ you are not aware of.

– Do not send money through Western Union unless you know exactly who is receiving it (friend, family). Legitimate businesses do not use Western Union as a payment option. Police in Canada cannot investigate international money transfers in an effective manner.

– It is never an emergency; don’t be pressured to send money because of a perceived time limit. Stop. Assess. Call Police or a family member if it seems odd. We would be glad to help.
