Glassford bows out of Wallaceburg election race

There will be one less Ward 5 – Wallaceburg candidate running in the 2018 Chatham-Kent Election.

Chris Glassford posted on social media that he is bowing out of the race.

“I have officially decided to step down from the race,” Glassford said.

“I normally do not ‘give up’ or ‘step down’ from a challenge, however Wallaceburg deserves a Councillor who will step up and take charge. I will continue to be an advocate for Wallaceburg, community events, and youth engagement in our community.”

Glassford said he wanted to thank everyone who believed in him and challenged him during this process.

“If you are looking to vote for change, I ask you to look closely at the campaigns Aaron Hall and Nick Cadotte are running. I also would urge locals to think about the ambulance and EMS services that are suffering in our communities,” he said.

“I would like to thank Carmen McGregor for always being encouraging and gracious through my decision to run for council. I am going to spend the next four years building a better resume in Wallaceburg and hopefully run for the next election. Lastly, please vote.”

Judy Smith, the municipal clerk in Chatham-Kent, told the Sydenham Current individuals can withdrawal or change their nomination to another race all before Nomination Day, which is Friday, July 27.

“If withdrawn by that time it would not appear in the ballot,” Smith said.

Hall, Cadotte, McGregor and Randy McNeil are all vying for two spots representing Wallaceburg on Chatham-Kent Council.

Election day is October 22, 2018.
