Toddler dies after being hit by a truck in Lambton

Lambton OPP officials allege on August 4, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. the Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the Pinery Provincial Park located on Lakeshore Road, Bosanquet Township in response to a pedestrian being struck by a pick-up truck.

Initial investigation has revealed that a 39-year-old male from East York, Ontario had been operating a pick-up truck when he attempted to make a U-turn within the Park. As a result of this action, a 3-year-old female child, also from East York, was struck by the pick-up truck.

Nearby pedestrians attempted medical assistance until the ambulance arrived. The child was transported to hospital and later pronounced as deceased. The OPP West Region Technical Reconstructionist Investigators, OPP West Region Identification Bureau and local OPP members continue to investigate. The child will be brought to the Coroner’s Office in Toronto for a physical examination dated for August 6, 2018.

The investigation is ongoing.

“This event has been extremely traumatic for the family,” OPP officials stated in a media release.

“The identity of the driver and deceased may be released once the investigation is complete.”
