A special weather statement is in effect across Chatham-Kent, as heavy downpours are expected over some areas.
Forecasters say areas of showers and thunderstorms are expected to impact portions of the region this afternoon and evening.
“Torrential downpours will be associated with these storms,” Environment Canada officials say.
“Some storms will be very slow moving which could result in highly localized rainfall amounts in excess of 50 mm.”
Environment Canada will monitor this situation closely.
