Update: Victim ID’d after fatal crash outside Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent OPP officials have released the identity of the victim after a fatal crash outside of Wallaceburg on Tuesday.

OPP officials say on August 28, 2018 around 1:30 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chatham-Kent Police Service, Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services, and Chatham-Kent Emergency Medical Services (EMS), responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 40 at Langstaff Line.

Police allege that investigators have since determined the female driver of the eastbound minivan drove through the stop sign and collided with the southbound dump truck.

As a result of the collision, the female driver of the minivan, Catherine Tiffin, 81-years-old of Wallaceburg, was transported to hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

OPP Traffic Collision Investigators (TCI) attended the scene to investigate the collision.

Highway 40 between Whitebread Line and Dufferin Avenue was closed for approximately four hours.

Watch for a follow-up story on Tiffin, who was the long-time organizer of the Selkirk History Faire.
