Costello announces his retirement

Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) Director Jim Costello announced he will be retiring following 33 years in education, effective July 31, 2019.

School board officials say Costello has served as the Director of Education for the LKDSB since 2010.

Prior to this appointment, he held the position of Superintendent of Human Resources and Superintendent of Special Education, and was formerly a secondary school teacher and administrator.

“I am proud of the work that we have achieved throughout my tenure to support student achievement and well-being. We have worked hard to achieve a common goal of serving students, staff and parents/guardians,” said Costello, in a media release.

“We appreciate Director Costello’s strong leadership and commitment to education,” said LKDSB Chair
Elizabeth Hudie, in a press release.

“Director Costello has well-positioned the LKDSB to move forward and continue its mission of fostering student success in caring and innovative learning environments.”

The Board of Trustees will undertake the steps to search for a new Director of Education to lead the
LKDSB as of August 1, 2019.
