Wilfred Smoke formerly of Mitchell’s Bay

SMOKE, Wilfred A. “Wilf”, of St. Thomas, formerly of Mitchell’s Bay and Port Lambton, passed away at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on Monday, August 27, 2018, in his 82nd year.

Beloved husband of the late Amy (née Leentjes) Smoke (2003). Loving father of Shelley Smoke, Terry Smoke (GuyAnne), and Peter Smoke. Cherished grandfather of Amy (Sam), Drew, Kaitlyn, Alyson, Josh, and Daniel and great grandfather of Jacklyn, Joey and Justin. Dear brother of the late Verne Smoke (Mary). Also fondly remembered by his special friend Linda, as well as many nieces and nephews and their families. Born in St. Thomas, ON, March 12, 1937, he was the son of the late Clarence and Vera (née Wilson) Smoke.

Wilf was a retired CSX Railway locomotive engineer. He and his wife Amy were the former proprietors of Parkside Place, Mitchell’s Bay. Wilf was a former member of the Optimist Club of Dover.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate Wilf’s life will be held at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Friday, August 31st at 1:30 p.m. Relatives and friends will be received by the family one hour prior to the service. A reception will be held at the Masonic Centre of Elgin, 42703 Fruit Ridge Line, St. Thomas following the service at the funeral home. Private interment in St. Thomas Cemetery, West Avenue. Flowers respectfully declined. Memorial donations to the Chatham-Kent Hospice will be gratefully acknowledged.
