Failure to have proper insurance, speeding charges laid

Chatham-Kent OPP officials allege on August 27 around 4 p.m., an officer was conducting RADAR enforcement on Highway 401 near Orford Road when they observed a westbound motor vehicle exceeding the posted speed limit of 100 km/hr.

The RADAR registered a speed in excess of 130 km/hr.

While speaking with the driver, the officer discovered the motor vehicle did not have valid insurance.

As a result, the female driver, a 44-year-old of Wallaceburg, has been charged with the following offences:

– Operate a motor vehicle without insurance, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act, and

– Speeding, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is actively monitoring the “Big 4” driving behaviours; impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving, and seatbelt usage.
