Chatham-Kent OPP officials allege on September 6 around 11 a.m., a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting RADAR enforcement on Highway 401 near Merlin Road when they observed a westbound commercial motor vehicle exceeding the posted speed limit of 100 km/hr.
While speaking with the driver, the officer observed unmarked cigarettes in the vehicle.
As a result, the male driver, a 62-years-old of Woodstock, Ontario has been charged with the following:
– Speeding, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act, and
– Possess unmarked cigarettes, contrary to section 29(1) of the Tobacco Tax Act.
The cigarettes were seized, police say.
