Vessel stop leads to pot charge

Chatham-Kent OPP officials allege on September 14 around 10:15 a.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting vessel inspections on the Thames River near Lake St. Clair and while speaking with the operator a quantity of Cannabis Marijuana was observed inside the vehicle.

As a result, the male operator, a 24-year-old from Chatham, was charged with possession of a Controlled Substance, contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.

The accused is required to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on November 22, 2018 to answer to the charges.
