OPP: Arrests made following rural break-ins

Lambton OPP officials allege during this past weekend, thieves have been very active within southern Lambton County.

Several thefts involved abandoned unoccupied buildings/homes and out buildings located in rural areas.

The thieves appear to be targeting precious metals, lawn care equipment, electronics, hunting rifles and older off road vehicles.

Again, the thieves appear to be concentrating on stealing copper wire and tubing from abandoned buildings.

But, if the opportunity presents itself, the thief will steal items of opportunity, police say.

Police allege on September 13, 2018 at 6:20 a.m. the OPP received a complaint of two suspicious persons and an associated vehicle that had entered a rural garage on Oil Springs Line in Enniskillen Township and stole items from said property.

As a result of continued OPP patrols and community assistance the OPP located a red 1999 Dodge Dakota within close proximity to the original break and enter.

Through additional investigation, the OPP have arrested and charged two adult males with alleged offences:

– A 46-year-old man from Warwick Township is charged with break, enter and theft and possession of stolen property.

– A 24-year-old Brooke-Alvinston Township man is fdacing the same charges.

The OPP are encouraging Lambton residents to report all suspicious persons and vehicles believed to be involved in this activity.

If anyone has knowledge of these incidents they are asked to call the OPP at 519-882-1011 or Sarnia-Lambton Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
