Try them, try them and you may, I say!

From The Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin

In Dr. Seuss’ epic classic, ‘Green Eggs and Ham’ the main character, Sam I Am, annoys his roommate by repeatedly asking him to try a bite of green eggs and ham.

After several fruitless attempts, Sam’s friend finally concedes to trying them, and prove once and for all his dislike for the unusual dish.

However, much to his surprise, he finds that he likes them.

What he thought he didn’t like he found he liked, all because he stepped out of his comfort zone and tried something new.

Growing up I was sure that Chinese food was one of the most disgusting things anyone could ever eat.

When my family went out for Chinese food I always had the hamburger deluxe.

One time my dad offered my $2 if I would just try some of the Chinese food.

I couldn’t pass up the opportunity for easy money so I dove in… and loved it!

The sky’s the limit sometimes if we are willing to get out of our comfort zone and delve into the uncharted waters of the unfamiliar.

After the disciples had fished all night and caught nothing Jesus said this in Luke 5:4: “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”

The Bible records that they caught so many fish that their nets began to break and their boats began to sink.

Wow!

Is that something you need to do today?

Are you floundering a little in the rut of routine or the shallow waters of predictability?

Perhaps a little change in habit may be what you need.

Who knows?

Maybe this will turn out to be just what the doctor ordered.

You’ll never know until you try.
