Online voting begins today in Chatham-Kent

Voters can cast their online ballots in this year’s municipal election beginning today, Monday, October 1, at 10 a.m.

Voters can visit www.ckelection.com to access the voting portal.

In order to participate, voters will need their elector id (found on their voter card) and an email to register.

Anyone who did not receive a Voter Card can visit any municipal centre to get one (by adding themselves to the list, or updating their information).

The online voting period closes October 15 at 10 p.m.

During the 2014 election, there were approximately 9,000 online votes cast.

Voters can also cast ballots in advance polls October 11, 12 and 13 or on election day, October 22.

There were 32,783 votes cast (42.1 per cent of eligible votes) during the 2014 election.

That percentage increased from 32,398 (39.9 per cent of eligible votes) during 2010.
