Donald Joseph Hoorelbeck, a resident of Wallaceburg and formerly of Leamington and St Mary’s, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice in Sarnia on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the age of 82.
Don is the son of the late Joseph & Marie (Jones) Hoorelbeck. Beloved husband of June (Smith). Loving father of Allen Hoorelbeck, Suzanne Jackson (David) and Lori deBakker (Brian). Dear grandfather of Courtney Hoorelbeck, Samantha and Benjamin Jackson and Christina (Corey), Ashley (Tyler), Madison and Grace deBakker. Brother of the late Gordon Hoorelbeck and brother-in-law of Janet Hoorelbeck and Marilyn & Glen Waites. He will be missed by several nieces & nephews.
Don came to Wallaceburg with Beaver Lumber and retired from Cash & Carry / Rona Lumber. Following retirement, Don & June spent their winters at the Oakside Mobile Park in Zephyrhills, Florida for 18 years. Don was also a member of Trinity United Church in Wallaceburg and the Kinsmen Club in St. Mary’s and Wallaceburg.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Thursday. The funeral will be celebrated at the funeral home on Friday, October 5 at 11 AM. Interment in Riverview Cemetery.
