From September 17 through September 23, Chatham-Kent indulged in Tim Hortons’ $1 Smile Cookies, with funds raised going towards the Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation.

Local Tim Hortons owners, Guy Pritchard and Mike and Paula Grail donated local proceeds from every Smile Cookie sale towards the Butterfly Building Campaign.

This past week, they presented the CTC with a donation in the amount of $24,650.

“The Children’s Treatment Centre and Foundation are excited that local Tim Hortons’ decided to support us again this year with their Smile Cookie campaign,” stated Mike Genge, Executive Director of the Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation.

“It was a tasty fundraiser and we are certainly honoured to be chosen as their charity of choice.”

At present, daily therapy and counseling sessions and individual case management is squeezed into the existing 25,000 sq ft site on Lark St., in Chatham and we are running out of space.

The CTC has grown from serving 224 children and youth in 1984, to now serving a total of 3,200 in 2018.

That’s an increase of over 1000 per cent in caseload. By 2020, the CTC-CK will serve 4,500 clients; which equals to one in every five Chatham-Kent children.

“Thank you to the community for your tremendous support of this years very successful Smile Cookie campaign. With the funds going toward a new Children’s Treatment Centre facility, it truly feels like the community will have helped to build it,” Mike and Paula Grail said in a statement.

“The employee support for this charity is key. So many team members have personal connections to the Children’s Treatment Centre that it makes it easy to ask a guest if they want to buy a Smile Cookie.”

Tim Hortons’ Smile Cookie campaign began in 1996 as a way to help raise funds for the Hamilton Children’s Hospital, and has grown to become a major fundraising event at Tim Hortons restaurants.

This year, the Smile Cookie Campaign raised a total of $7.8 million for more than 500 charities across Canada.

“The Smile Cookie program is all about enriching our community and with the proceeds going to the Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation, we are investing in the future of our younger generation. The campaign has been successful year after year thanks to our loyal and kind guests within our community,” stated Jessica Pritchard.
