Truck hit by a train, driver uninjured

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege yesterday morning, emergency crews responded to a collision involving a VIA Rail train and pick-up truck on Base Line near Zone 4 Road.

The driver stopped too close to the tracks and the front end of his truck was clipped by the train, police say.

Luckily, no one was physically injured.

The driver of the truck, a 64-year-old Thamesville man was charged with start from stopped position – not in safety.

Total damage was estimated at $30,000.
