Wallaceburg Christian School wins food drive challenge

Blackburn Radio, alongside Captain Positive, announced the winning school of the Blackburn Radio Food Drive challenge between participating Chatham-Kent area elementary schools today.

Wallaceburg Christian School was recognized as the top school with the most donations per capita (food donation count divided by school population.)

Even though they were the smallest school with only 80 students, Wallaceburg Christian School was able to bring in over seven times their population size.

For winning the challenge, they will receive a ‘Positively Awesome’ Lunch Party including lunch for the whole school provided by Piezano’s Pizza, as well as a trophy presentation and guest appearances by Captain Positive and Opti Woman with special performances.

The Salvation Army would like to thank Blackburn Radio and the Chatham-Kent area elementary schools, which donated 9,639 items of food, for helping them in ‘Giving Hope Today.’

This will allow the Chatham-Kent Salvation Army food banks to provide meals for the most vulnerable and marginalized people in the community.

The food drive was sparked as a challenge given by Blackburn Radio during the Positivity School tours conducted in collaboration with Positivity Day in CK celebrations.

“It’s evident by the overwhelming success of the food drive that the students of Chatham-Kent were inspired by our challenge and we are very proud of all the schools that participated,” stated Amanda Thibodeau, Marketing & Promotions Manager, Blackburn Radio Inc. in a press release

“It’s our hope that the food drive is the start of even bigger things to come for next year and we will continue to work to encourage the youth and residents of Chatham-Kent to give back to our community.”
