Robbery in Brigden leads to arrest

Lambton OPP officials allege on October 9 the Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a business located on Courtright Line in Brigden, Ontario to investigate a robbery.

Investigation revealed that three culprits had entered the business, one brandishing a weapon.

The weapon was used in an intimidating manner toward the business’ employee, police allege.

The male brandishing the weapon retrieved currency from the cash register while the other two culprits stole merchandise from within the business.

The culprits fled the scene at which time the OPP attended.

The West Region OPP Crime Unit, West Region Emergency Response Team, West Region Canine, West Region Identification Bureau and Lambton OPP members attended.

Within a few hours the culprit who had brandished the weapon was arrested, currency was seized and the weapon was located.

A 32-year-old Walpole Island First Nation man has been charged with the alleged offences of:

– Robbery with a weapon

– Possession of a dangerous weapon

– Possession of stolen property

He was held in custody and did appear for a bail hearing on October 11.

The OPP are actively attempting to identify the other two culprits who appear to be associates of the suspect.
