‘Cannabis Control Act’ offence in Sarnia

Lambton OPP officials allege on October 18, 2018 the Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a driving complaint involving a luxury vehicle driving erratically on the 402 Highway.

As a result, the OPP identified the suspect automobile and stopped it on the 402 Highway near Airport Road, City of Sarnia.

Although the driver was not found to be impaired, there was one additional issue.

Investigation resulted in the driver, a 38-year-old male from the Greater Toronto Area being issued a $215.00 Provincial Offences Notice contrary to Section 12(1) of the Cannabis Control Act- Ontario for; having care and or control of a motor vehicle while having cannabis readily available.

Tobacco, alcohol and now cannabis are regulated substances that are controlled by laws and regulations within the Province of Ontario.

The OPP will do its best not to just enforce these laws but, to also educate the community in their use.

Having said that, there is a lawful degree of responsibility on the user to know the laws and regulations prior to purchasing and possessing these substances.
