Police issue public safety warning

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Saturday, a Chatham resident called police to report that he had been approached by two suspicious men driving a white Honda vehicle.

The men claimed they ran out of gas and tried to sell him jewelry for cash or use of his credit card.

Officers attended the area but failed to locate the men or their vehicle.

The Chatham-Kent Police would like to remind citizens not to fall prey of this scam that aims at taking advantage of people’s generosity.

If a stranger approaches you, trust your instincts as they are usually right.

If the situation appears suspicious, use caution and call police immediately with physical descriptors of those involved along with a description of their vehicle including the license plate, if possible.
